Margriet de Moor 玛格丽特•德默尔
Literature

After following a career as a classical singer, Margriet de Moor (1941, Noordwijk) decided to pursue a writing career - a decision which has proved a particularly happy one. Not only was she immediately recognised as a major talent, becoming one of the most popular writers in Dutch, but she has also become a literary presence abroad since the international success of her novels First Grey, Then White, Then Blue and The Virtuoso. She has since published successful novels such as The Duke of Egypt and Kreutzer Sonata. Her sensitive, perceptive, delicate writing and her careful construction carry the reader away slowly but surely and this is more true than ever in her new novel Drowned. In Drowned, the shock that changes many human lives forever is meteorological: a disastrous flood that the writer bases with documentary precision on the floods that hit the Dutch province of Zeeland in 1953. The latter title came out in China this year, published by Shanghai Literature and Arts Publishing House.
