Chop Wood is a solo project by Coparck frontman Odilo Girod. His debut solo album is a mix of electronic and acoustic songs written mostly at night due to his sleeplessnes and insomnia. A diverse batch of eclectic atmospheres sparked with angular remoteness, vivid dreamlike sequences and sweet caustic electricity. Songs about about sleepless nights, the strangest thoughts and weird and wonderful dreams. Whatever gets you through the night.

RECORDED IN BERLIN
The 13 songs on the album were recorded in 10 days with producer Maarten Besseling as part of the ‘in a cabin with’ project, in a temporary makeshift studio in a room at the Kunsthaus Tacheles in Berlin (may 2008). Several musicians travelled to Berlin to participate such as Finn Kruyning (Moss), Jelte Heringa (most unpleasant men) and Insa Rudolph.

LIVE
Chop Wood is a surprise show. You never know who’s joining in and coming up on stage. In 2008 he did a series of shows with guestmusicians, visuals and live performers crossing the boundaries between a pop concert and a theatre show. In the summer of 2009 Chop Wood played De Parade, a travelling theatre show. De Parade transforms the parks in four major Dutch cities into an avenue of theatre, live music, dance, mime acts and cabaret. In 2009 they also did a support act for Jamie Lidell and played in Moskou.
