Miquel de Jong was born in the late summer of 1971 in Den Haag. Trained at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague from the age of 10 and graduated in 1989 with a diploma of higher professional education of dance. He then joined Scapino Ballet Rotterdam (under the direction of Nils Christe and later Ed Wubbe) where he worked for 6 years collaborating in many creations, in 1996 he joint Opera Nationale de Lyon directed by Yougos Loukos where he worked with a wide selection of well none choreographers (like William Foresythe, Jiri kylian, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin) there is where he met Russell Maliphant and after one year of working in Ballet Preljocaj (directed by Angelin Preljocaj) he joint Russell Maliphant Company in London exploring a diverse range of techniques along the way (from contact improvisation, yoga, capoeira, tai chi and acrobatics).

In 2006 he co founded 2moveDC (www.2movedc.com) with Kevin Polak.
