In August the Dutch Culture Centre will be dedicated to digital art and new media. Innovative Dutch and Chinese artists, architects and digital media makers demonstrate how media, art and technology can contribute to the design of a future city. Adaptation: Designing The Future City consists of an exhibition by V2_ and the Dynamic City Foundation and a forum with Neville Mars. Those who decide to stay at home can follow some of the activities online.

Control a Video Robot

When the exhibition in Shanghai opens at August 14, you can drive one of the robots virtually at the Shanghai exhibition venue from the website. Underneath you'll find the instructions for driving a robot.
The connection between you and the robot will be made via the program Skype.

Instructions to Control a Video Robot

1. Open and login at Skype
2. Download & Open RobotDriver.jar, click here:
Mac Users Windows Users
3. Allow the program to use Skype when asked.
4. The robot will call you when it is your turn.
5. Now you can control the robot with the arrow keys on your keyboard.

*Apple Mac users should choose Java 32 bit before running the RobotDriver, click here for instructions

Note:
A connection to the software will automatically be made in Skype. When there is a connection, you will see the scale models live.
Make sure the RobotDriver screen is active. You can achieve this by clicking in the RobotDriver window. After about 5 minutes you will be logged out again.
The software that you download is totally legal and 100% safe.

Tip: If it is busy you can subscribe yourself to a waiting list to drive the robot. When it is almost your turn to drive the robot, you will automatically get a message.
