The performance entitled MOVE:MENT is an improvisation project based on movement in music and dance, by Nederlands Dans Theater and the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition during the Shanghai Expo, May 2010.

The Liszt Competition and NDT join forces for the first time during the World Expo in Shanghai, with a special cooperation in which both will participate with their Chinese stars: concert pianist Yingdi Sun and dancer Wun Sze Chan.

Yingdi Sun, winner of the 8th Liszt Competition 2005 and by now a famous pianist in his home town Shanghai, and Wun Sze Chan, Chinese dancer of NDT, will improvise together.
As such, improvisation is not new to both artists.

However this project is new and innovative: MOVE:MENT is a synergetic interaction, in which music follows dance, and dance follows music. It will be exciting to see and hear how both artist will challenge, accompany, complement, or overrule each other.
In the first part, the music will take the lead while the dance will follow. Slowly however, this will change. The second part will start with an improvised dance part, while the pianist follows the dancer. At one point, he will overrule her, and take the lead. MOVE:MENT  is like a exclusive starter, or Amuse to the performances of NDT on the occasion of the Dutch National Day during the World Expo 2010, which will take place on the 18th of May in the Shanghai Grand Theatre.
