Master class given by the director John Appel

The master class has a total duration of 2.30 hrs and is divided in two parts of  75 minutes with a 15 minute break.

During the master class John Appel will use filmclips from the following 4 movies.

During the master class, John Appel wants to show how you can find DRAMA in a documentary. He wants to show in what way DRAMA is build up in documentary, and compare this to a feature film.
Appel wants to show how you can discover a STORY. How can you predict what is going to happen when you are watching a documentary.
He will tell  about what CHOICES he made before making his documentaries and how he can put CONSTRAINTS to use. John Appel will explain what the TOUCH OF THE DIRECTOR of a documentary is, the directors personal approach, his signature.
