A Dancers' Life is about performances and workshops which present the works of three young Dutch choreographers Prospect Future by Joeri Dubbe, 15 minutes universe by David Middendorp, God Studies by Kenneth Flak.

David Middendorp's 15 minutes sought inspiration in the phenomenon of 'time'. All that we do, think, and make is related to time, and yet time is also intangible. To look at the person next to you, light only needs the merest fraction of a second to reach the eye. When we look at the stars we go back millions of years in time. The moment we experience as 'now' is actually partially in the past. The dance merges with video animations and live music with harpist Astrid Haring.

Prospect Future by Joeri Dubbe is dealing with the fears and uncertainties that someone can experience in it’s communication with others. The movements fuse with cold and warm sounds, light and set design.

God Studies by Kenneth Flak was presented at another dance event from Korzo Voorjaarsontwaken in 2008 and is the last in a movement study for the evening-length performance Of Gods And Driftwood. The solo is a dialogue with gods from the Norse mythology: Odin, god of war and wisdom, Thor, god of thunder and Loke, god of mischief. The universe of these Viking gods is brutal, violent and beautiful at the same time: the only thing that matters is survival, and, where survival is no longer possible, to die in style. What does these characters represent for contemporary man?

These young talented Dutch choreographers were invited to present their work in Shanghai. The Korzo production house has been celebrating the choreographic talent that abounds in The Hague with Here we live and now a title referring to the city and the times in which we live – since 2006. Dance makers from The Hague are invited to create new work and to present this work in a full-length programme. For the 2009-edition, Joeri Dubbe and David Middendorp presented their works Prospect Future and 15 minutes universe.

KORZO PRODUCTIONS is the name of the production house for contemporary dance in The Hague. It’s a name that is finding its way more and more into the programs of theatres in The Netherlands. And always in combination with names of young or leading choreographers or connected with new and stimulating initiatives in the Dutch dance scene. www.korzo.nl
