Dutch Culture Centre at the 800 Show building

The Dutch Culture Centre (DCC) is located in the recently renovated 800Show building in Jing’An District.

800Show Creative Park is an old industrial complex of 20,000 m2, built in 1949. This complex was redesigned by the German architect office Logon and opened in October 2009 to host the yearly Shanghai International Creative Industry Week.  The owner of the building, the city district of Jing’An, redeveloped the building specifically for cultural programmes and presentations.

The location encompasses 15 buildings built over the span of 50 years. These include the dominant 120m long factory hall with its ornate wooden roof/beam structure, colonial-type villas dating back to the 1920-30s which DCC will be placed in. Furthermore it houses office buildings built in the 1960-70s which are completely surrounded by a blend of high-rises and Shikumen houses. Each building was renovated with designs highlighting the individuality of original construction.
The central hall of the complex is 100 meters long, 14 meters wide and 16 meters high. For the Dutch Culture Centre, this enormous hall will be split into an exhibition space  of 500 m² and a theatre venue for a maximum of 300 visitors per event. Furthermore the hall contains a VIP lounge, called the Jing’An room and dressing rooms.

The Dutch Culture Centre is located in the 800Show building on 800 Changde lu (near Changping lu) in down town Shanghai.
